New Project

I got this great idea for a cute onesie at a baby shower I went to the other day and decided to make one for Lizzy. It turned out so cute I am excited to make them for all the soon to be moms I know.
I have all kinds of projects in the mix including baby bibs, burp cloths, and a dress for myself. I will keep you all posted as I finish them. Happy sewing everyone.

Let Go of the Banana

There is a test that scientists have done to prove logic and problem solving in monkeys. The scientist takes a banana and places it in a large jar with a thin neck. When the monkey walks by the jar it can't help but put it's hand in the jar to get the banana. However, when the monkey tries to pull the banana out of the jar the banana gets stuck and therefor the monkey's hand is stuck in the jar.

Sometimes in life there is so much chaos it is hard to see the big picture. We are constantly cleaning, cooking, running errands, playing, eating, taking the kids somewhere, telling the kids something, giving baths, reading books, having tea parties and still there are only 24 hours in the day. Yet for some reason we are all that monkey, trying to make it all happen and refusing to let go of the banana.

What is really important? That our houses are perfectly clean, our kids are perfectly kept, there is a Martha Stewart worthy dinner on the table? The things that are the most important in life are Love, Family, and Faith. With these things in our lives we will never be lonely, always have someone to talk to and listen, we will always have someone to hug and kiss us goodnight. I am just encouraging all of us to take a moment to look at our lives and realize that we are not perfect, we cannot do everything, and we just need to LET GO OF THE BANANA.

I love you all and hope that whatever burdens you are bearing you know that I am here to help you lift them off your always aching backs!

Future Alumni

Today was a great day. Marissa passed on an old T-shirt to Jackson, very special because it is a BYU t-shirt. I can just see him playing football now. He wore it all day and refused to take it off.
We also had a tea party with chocolate milk and cookies. Jackson loved drinking out of real cups. He was so cute about putting down his cookies, drinking from his cup, putting it back down so carefully, then picking up his cookie and eating it again. He even wore a cowboy hat the whole time because I told him we have to wear hats when we have tea parties.

Lizzy decided that I wasn't feeding her right tonight so she took the spoon out of my hand and tried to do it herself. She is not so good at it as you can see but what a little over achiever.

AHHH the joys of kids.

Who do you want to be today?

We were getting dressed the other morning and we got a little distracted by the closet full of dress up clothes in Jackson's room. He thought it was so much fun trying on all the different hats and having me take pictures of him (he loves being the center of attention ). It is the simple things in life that can really make you smile. She's a diva!
What a character!

1,2,3,4,5

Elizabeth turned 5 months this week and is such a cute baby. SO CUTE! She has these cheeks that I just find myself kissing all day long. And she makes the funniest noises including babbling, and grunting when she is mad about something whether it is that she is hungry or just wants to be held. It is actually really funny. She still has the bluest eyes and I have to say I hope they stay blue because I always wanted a brown hair blue eyed girl. Here are some other things she is doing now:

-she tries to sit up by doing tummy crunches and lifting her head
-she sleeps from 9pm to 9:30am
-she drools like crazy (watch for a little white tooth soon)
-she reaches and grabs toys
-she blows raspberries and thinks it is so funny (it is so funny, spit everywhere)
-she loves sitting in her bumbo
-she prefers standing to sitting
-still hates her tummy and will just cry until I come and get in instead of rolling over (stubborn much?)
-she eats rice cereal and keeps most of it in her mouth now
-she weighs about 15lbs
-she is very ticklish and laughs even before we tickle her (she knows it is coming)
-loves taking baths
-she can lift herself up on her tummy and support herself on her arms
-she is super smiley and just a little love bug

Week in Review

This week was a crazy one. I spent the week taking care of two babies and two teenagers and let me tell you there are HUGE differences. The babies need you for everything, and love you to be there for everything. The teenagers need you for some things, want you for nothing, and want to tell you nothing. All I can say is I am glad they start little and work their way up to the teen years because no body would be parents if it was the other way around.

Brandon spent the whole week studying for his broker's exam. It was a lot of late nights but he passed and now can officially be a broker. I am so proud of him for putting in all the hard work and so relieved that he passed the test. It was so cute because he would come home from work and study but still try to spend time with us. I walked into our room one night and he was teaching Lizzy all about dividends and she was having a ball smiling and laughing at him.

I spent the week cleaning, cooking, and looking for new stuff for our house (most of which I am not going to buy because we can't afford it but I can always dream). I have also spent a lot of time watching HGTV trying to get some decorating tips. I don't know anything about decorating or even what I like so I need some ideas.

Jackson is always on the move getting into something. He is really becoming more independent which is so nice because I really don't have all day to have tea parties and play in the yard (I wish I could). Tonight we were watching the Super Bowl and I was like, "where is Jackson?" After looking through the whole upstairs I went down to the basement and he had poured himself a bowl of crackers, was sitting on a chair eating the crackers and watching the football game. He is so funny and a great kid.Still makes the scrunchy face but now he says "cheese" along with it.

Elizabeth is just a little sweetheart. She is on a great schedule now taking two naps a day and going to bed around 9 and waking up around 10 the next morning. One of Brandon's grandparents said I must have a sedative in my milk to get my kids to sleep so well. I think it is just about routine and comfy beds. Lizzy is at such a fun age smiling all the time and giving really big giggle laughs all day. She loves her rice cereal now and her cheeks are so soft and chunky I can't help but kiss them all day long.We are all happy and healthy which is the most important thing in life.

Lizzy was hanging out on the floor so Jack went and laid next to her. He loves her so much and she adores him.

The Best Kids Ever

I am so in love with my children. They don't always behave and sometimes they are annoying like when they throw fits or make messes, but then I remember they are just kids. And then they do something super sweet like Jackson coming over and giving me a kiss just because he loves me or Lizzy smiling her big smile and laughing ecstatically at me. Tonight they were both irresistable, Jackson was actually playing with Lizzy. He was pushing her around in her walker being so careful around the walls. Then later she was laying on the ground and he came over said, "Hi Lizzy" gave her a kiss and played with a rattle so she could see it. She already adores him, always watching him and smiling at him. He is taking on the roll of the big brother looking out for her. Every time we get in the car without her he points to her seat and says "where?" like where is Lizzy mom. So cute and kind, I love them both so much.
